The photos are now faded and weathered… but, they capture the passion of a 9-year old kid, who was in awe of the moment…
It was 1980, and the Major League Baseball All-Star Game was at Dodger Stadium, in Los Angeles. JB Brookman was a wide-eyed baseball fan… more specifically, a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. MLB held a free workout, the day before the All-Star game and JB just had to be there! He brought the family camera and snapped away as the players took batting practice. From Dave Winfield to JR Richard and Nolan Ryan- they were all captured on old Kodak film…
When Dodger manager Tommy Lasorda turned around, after an interview, Brookman captured one of his favorite shots. Although he no longer has the negatives from that day, the old printed photographs with the frayed, rounded edges serve as a reminder of what he was destined to do.
30 years later: JB Brookman is a two-time cancer survivor. He is married to Jen, a fantastic graphic designer, who is a great photographer, herself. Together, they form the team, JB Brookman Photography.
JB has a background encouraging and serving people. He has been involved in church ministry his entire life. He has a passion for music, which led him to found Hollywood Icon Magazine. He is an avid photographer of concerts and live events. The magazine has enabled him to photograph concerts from San Diego to Seattle.
But, his true passions are Family Portraits, High School Senior Portraits and Headshots. He loves to capture the true personality of people, by taking their portraits. He feels that he is able to encourage people by making them look their best. A master of the use of outdoor lighting, a majority of his portraits are taken in nature, using sunlight. Valued clients can be photographed at their home, in a beautiful natural environment (beach, mountains, etc.) or at one of their favorite places (sports venue, historical place, etc.). Being based in Westlake Village, CA, there is no shortage of wonderful places to create breathtaking portraits.
JB Brookman has also been blessed to be able to capture celebrity portraits. He spent three years, living in LA and working in Beverly Hills. During this time, he was able to work in and around Hollywood and gain invaluable experience in the industry.
